1875H Queen Victoria Farthing – Scarce Heaton Mint – About Uncirculated with Lustre

This listing is for a genuine 1875 Queen Victoria Farthing, struck at the Birmingham Heaton Mint. The “H” mintmark appears below the date, clearly distinguishing it from the standard Royal Mint issues of the same year. Coins with the “H” mark are generally scarcer and have long been collected as a variety in their own right.

Historical Context
The farthing, valued at one quarter of a penny, was an essential part of everyday Victorian commerce. By the mid-19th century, Britain’s industrial expansion and increasing population drove demand for small-denomination coinage. The Heaton Mint, a private minting establishment in Birmingham, was contracted at times to strike coins when the Royal Mint’s output was insufficient.

The year 1875 is of particular note because both Royal Mint and Heaton issues were produced. Collectors often seek the Heaton examples for completeness, with the “H” mintmark serving as a subtle but important detail.

Condition
This example grades About Uncirculated (aUNC) with traces of original lustre visible. A coin of this quality shows only the slightest evidence of handling and is significantly superior to the average circulated specimen. With its strong strike and remaining mint brilliance, it is an excellent candidate for inclusion in a high-grade Victorian copper collection.

Please study the high-resolution photographs provided as grading remains subjective, and they form the best representation of the coin’s condition.
